Apostrophe (‘) Dalam Bahasa Inggris

Punctuation adalah tanda baca yang membuat arti sebuah kalimat menjadi jelas. Tanda baca lain yang biasa digunakan dalam bahasa Ingris adalah apostrophe (‘) Apostrophe digunakan untuk menunjukkan kepemilikan atau dua kata yang di gabungkan (contraction).

Apostrophe Untuk Kepemilikan

Ada beberapa aturan dalam penggunaan apostrophe unutk kepemilikan ini.
Umumnya, kalian hanya perlu menambahkan ‘s setelah kata benda tunggal atau kata benda jamak yang tidak berakhiran ‘s’

contoh:
Rina’s book
Fina’s phone
Lusi’s dog
Lala’s car
childern’s toys
the women’s work

Jika kata tersebut berakhiran ‘s’ baik tunggal atau jamak, cukup tambahkan apostrophe tanpa s lagi. contoh:

the kids’ toys
my parents’ car
your brothers’ clothes

Apostrophe untuk Contractions

Apostrophe di sini digunakan untuk mengganti huruf yang hilang karena dipersingkat dan terletak di posisi huruf yang hilang tersebut. seperti do dan not yang disingkat menjadi don’t.
